A shark attacked four divers in Sharm El Sheikh two days ago and a swimming ban has been put on the area!
The oceanic white-tip shark that attacked the three Russians and the Ukrainian, are ranked as the third most dangerous shark, but apparently humans are really not their favorite meal. The last time someone was attacked by the same breed of shark in Sharm was a year ago, and shark attacks are reported once every year or two at the most. So really, if you think about it, catching the 'big bad shark' to set the peace is not the way to go. The thing is, this is not their nature, and for one shark to do all this damage in two days seems fishy.
We sometimes need to blame ourselves, we go diving and snorkeling in their habitats, we tease them like lab rats with meat and fish to get a good tip; we go looking for them. And we kill 100 million of them every year, that's roughly 11,000 sharks per hour. We kill them for their fins, a luxury. They kill us if we are in the way, every once in a while.
If you're really scared of the 'big bad shark' then don't get in the water, don't get all up in their faces, and don't cry wolf when they take a bite.
